About the Opportunity:
Melissa is looking for a curious, detail-oriented, and technically capable data professional to help maintain and improve the quality of some of our most important proprietary data assets. At Melissa, we develop data quality and identity solutions that help organizations maintain accurate, reliable, and connected information.
We are looking for someone to take a hands-on role in understanding, analyzing, validating, and continuously improving these identifiers. You will work directly with large datasets, investigate data anomalies, develop quality checks, evaluate changes, and collaborate with technical teams to ensure our identifiers remain accurate, consistent, and reliable. This is an opportunity to develop deep expertise in data quality, identity resolution, and large-scale data management while taking ownership of data assets used by Melissa's customers.
What You Will Do:
- Analyze and validate data for accuracy, consistency, uniqueness, and reliability.
- Investigate data anomalies, duplicate identifiers, unexpected key changes, incorrect matches, and other data-quality issues.
- Write SQL queries to compare datasets, identify patterns, investigate problems, and validate results.
- Develop repeatable data-quality checks, reports, and automated validation processes.
- Evaluate changes in data sources, matching rules, and data-processing procedures to identify potential impacts on identifier quality.
- Collaborate with Data Production, Programming, and Quality Assurance teams to investigate and resolve issues.
- Test and validate improvements, corrections, and new capabilities involving Melissa's identifiers.
- Monitor quality trends and recommend opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain documentation of findings, quality standards, known issues, and validation procedures.
- Help establish and maintain data-integrity metrics and reporting.
What We Are Looking For:
Required Qualifications:
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
- Ability to investigate complex data issues, identify patterns, and draw meaningful conclusions.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow problems through to resolution.
- Experience working with data in an analytical, operational, or technical capacity.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 or more years of relevant experience in data analysis, data quality, data operations, or a related field.
- Experience working with large datasets.
- Familiarity with AI, Python or other scripting tools for data analysis and automation.
- Understanding of data matching, deduplication, entity resolution, or master data management.
- Experience with data profiling, data validation, or quality monitoring.
- Familiarity with ETL processes, APIs, or data-processing pipelines.
- Experience investigating production data issues and evaluating changes between data releases.
Who Will Succeed in This Role?
- You enjoy solving puzzles involving data. When something does not look right, you are motivated to investigate, understand the underlying cause, and find ways to prevent it from happening again.
- You are comfortable working independently, asking thoughtful questions, and collaborating with technical teams. You do not necessarily need to be an experienced software developer, but you enjoy working with databases, learning how systems operate, and using technical tools to solve problems.
- Most importantly, you take pride in producing accurate, dependable results and want to become an expert in the data products you support.
- We are looking for the right analytical aptitude, technical foundation, and willingness to learn.
Pay Range: $60,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year / $28.85 - $48.07 per hour DOE.
Perks & Benefits:
